Quick answer

Before installation, clear small items, art and fragile decor, keep the rolls unopened in a dry room and check their batch numbers, make sure the room is heated to normal temperature, arrange access and parking, and keep pets and children out of the work area.

Key points

  • Check batch numbers on every roll when the wallpaper arrives.
  • Do not cut or open rolls before installation.
  • Keep the room at normal living temperature.
  • Leave paste time to cure before hanging art.

One to two weeks before

  • Check the wallpaper delivery. All rolls should have the same batch or run number and no crushed edges.
  • Store it flat and dry in a heated room, not in a garage or basement.
  • Confirm building rules if you live in a condo — see condo and HOA planning.
  • Arrange fixture removal if sconces or heavy mirrors need an electrician.

The day before

  1. Remove art, mirrors, shelves contents and small furniture.
  2. Move large furniture toward the center of the room if you can, or tell us what stays.
  3. Empty bookcases and built-ins near the walls being papered.
  4. Make sure the room is heated and dry.
  5. Clear a path from the entrance to the room.

On installation day

  • Keep pets and children out of the room — paste, ladders and blades are in use.
  • Expect the power to be off on the circuits where outlet covers are removed.
  • Be available briefly at the start to confirm the layout and starting point.

After installation

Timing What to do
First 24–48 hours Keep normal temperature, no heaters aimed at the wall
First days Small bubbles may flatten as paste dries
After 48 hours Hang art and move furniture back
Long term Keep a labeled spare roll for repairs
